University of Surrey - Teaching Block refurbishment and upgrade

Introduction:

Wilson & Partners were appointed as lead consultants covering multidisciplinary design services to provide designs for a full refurbishment of an existing Teaching Block.

Brief:

Following a detailed survey by the building fabric and MEP teams. Wilson & Partners developed a comprehensive refurbishment design strategy. Following publication of the preliminary designs; Wilson & Partners were then engaged to produce full Stage 4 and 5 designs for a fast-track procurement programme. The designs considered energy efficiency and control as a cornerstone for the project, to bring the 70’s building services up to date to provide modern, flexible teaching spaces.

Project Delivery:

The project was procured using a two-stage approach with preliminary design information used to select the most suitable contractor. Following contractor appointment full Stage 4 technical designs were provided in parallel with strip out and enabling works.
